Fun stuff to do with the furkids...

Exercise

Exercise is both healthy and fun for dogs. They love to explore, smell out new scents and get out of the house to discover new territory now and again. Take your dog outside to get back to his or her roots, let the wild dog out in them, let them sniff, let them romp, let them explore. The exercise will do both of you some good!

Visiting a dog park or dog run for exercise is good on occasion as well. Always make sure to supervise your dog to make sure they follow dog run etiquette and that other dogs aren't too rough or frighten them. If your dog is aggressive, solitary walks with you are best while you work on a training regimen to help change this behavior. If your dog misbehaves or roughouses with other dogs, be a good dog parent and remove your dog and yourself from a potentially dangerous situation.

Agility courses at home are fun too, make or buy safe obstacles for your dog to crawl through, around or under, or to jump over or through.

Play fun and learning games

Challenging your dog's mental health is great too. Playing games that teach good behaviors or that stimulate your dog to think sharpen his intellect and ability to problem solve. My friend Barbara plays hide and seek with plastic easter eggs and does an easter egg treat hunt with her dog. There are even board games you can play with your dog and other dog families such as "My Dog Can Do That!" Make learning fun and stimulating for your dog and encourage good behaviors in the process.

Take road trips

Check out www.dogpark.com and www.petswelcome.com for great places to take your dog for a run or to explore. Pets Welcome has lists of travel destinations, lodging and interesting and fun places to go in the US. Travelling often encourages good travel behavior, gets dogs excited, allows them to spend quality time with you and gives them the opportunity to explore and travel to different and new places. Some places have special accomodations for companion animals that even provides them with special treatment!

Bake for your dog

Baking for your dog is a fun experience for you and the end result is always enjoyable for your dog. Check out the healthy treat recipes on this site for some recipes that your dog will love!
